Jason Silvernale - President

Jason Silvernale is a Conrad, Montana, native who moved to Butte in the Fall of 2008 to attend Montana Tech. He earned his Bachelors of Science from the Business & Information Technology Department in the Spring of 2012. Professionally, he has worked in the floor covering industry for the last seven years.

Outside of the world of floor coverings, Silvernale’s passion is working on and advocating for the revitalization of historic buildings. Whether it’s an 1880 Miner’s Cottage, 1895 Queen Anne Victorian, or 1920 Dutch Colonial, he sees the value and importance of what a rehabilitated historic property can add to a neighborhood and community. The satisfaction of uncovering lost details and learning the history of families who owned the home prior is what makes the process worth it for him. He has been an active member of Butte CPR since 2015 and has served as a board member since 2016.

Levi Mork - Vice President

Levi Mork is a fourth generation Montanan who moved to Butte in the fall of 2003 to attend Montana Tech, and graduated in December of 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and various minors. I have worked at Everly & Associates as a Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor since 2006 working on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. I have helped restore/remodel several houses in Butte, and have done four total rehabs for myself including my own home and three rentals. “I take pride in rebuilding these old houses to their former glory by recreating old practices in utilizing stone, wood siding, and historic designs. I have a deep love for historic uptown Butte and all that it offers.” His hobbies include woodworking, running a sawmill, enjoying the great outdoors, visiting the hot springs in our area, and working on old houses.  “I enjoy working alongside my wife and with my two daughters to build a better future for us, and for Butte.”

Mary McCormick - Board Member

Mary McCormick is an architectural historian with over 35 years of professional experience in historic preservation.  For most of her early career Ms. McCormick served as a partner in a cultural resource consulting firm in Butte where she specialized in community-based National Register of Historic Places inventories and the documentation of industrial resources, ranging from small truss bridges and abandoned mines to large-scale irrigation systems and hydroelectric facilities.  Between 2011 and 2014, Ms. McCormick worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Technical Center of Expertise for the Preservation of Historic Structures and Buildings, and completed projects for the Corps’ Seattle, Portland, Nashville and St. Louis districts.  Ms. McCormick currently is Butte-Silver Bow’s Historic Preservation Officer, a position she assumed July 2015.  She spends much of her free time on restoration projects at her century-old home in Butte.

Maisie Sulser - Board Member

Maisie Sulser was born and raised in Montana. Prior to moving to Butte in 2021 with her husband, Maisie worked as an architect in Billings. With her Masters in Architecture from Montana State University and nearly 20 years of experience in design, Maisie and her contractor husband decided to combine their expertise and start their own company in 2015. They started a design-build business focused on sustainable design, historic restoration, rehabilitation, and reuse. That was also when they set their sights on Butte and knew that one day they would make Butte their forever home.

Beyond her passion for historic architecture and sustainable design, Maisie is excited about the community of Butte and the people that she and her husband have met. Maisie was active in the community of Billings, serving on various boards and committees. Most notable were the Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board, Billings Preservation Society, Downtown Billings Association, and Downtown Billings Partnership Board - all of which were invested in preserving and respecting the past while looking to the future and how to better the community. So when the opportunity came up to join the Butte Historic Trust Board, Maisie felt that this was the perfect first community organization to join - the mission of this Board aligns with her values of preserving the past while looking toward the future of Butte.

Maisie is an avid Bobcat fan, loves to travel and spend time with her family and friends, and can often be found at a local watering hole enjoying a cocktail or craft brew. Maisie also invests in and works on historic real estate with her husband, and they currently have multiple development projects in Butte, one of which was featured on the 2022 Dust to Dazzle historic homes tour.

Nancy Woodruff - Board Member

Nancy Woodruff moved to Butte with her husband, Steve Thompson, in September of 2018 after living in Whitefish for 30 years. Nancy’s grandmother had an avid interest in architecture and used to say “I’ll do anything to get inside someone’s house.” Nancy inherited that gene, and is now on Cloud Nine walking around and ogling the buildings of Butte, as well as enjoying owning an historic home in Uptown.

In past lives Nancy studied English, art history, and anthropology, and worked as a newspaper reporter and as a technical writer for software companies. She lived in Hong Kong for several years as a child, and later taught English in China.

Nancy was active in the Whitefish community, serving one term as a City Councilor and as a member of numerous city committees. Most recently she participated in writing the city’s Climate Action Plan.

Nancy, Steve, and their border collie Jackson are happily hiking, cross-country skiing, and generally exploring in their new hometown and the surrounding area.
